Fundations® K–5 simplifies teaching Structured Literacy for today’s classrooms. Mastery-based, educator-friendly lessons take the guesswork out of delivering direct and explicit instruction in foundational literacy skills. The proven step-by-step, multimodal approach empowers every educator to teach engaging lessons with confidence. Fundations K–5 provides a comprehensive scope and sequence, built-in scaffolding, and real-time progress monitoring to prevent learning gaps.
Pioneered by Barbara Wilson and grounded in the science of reading, Fundations delivers effective, Tier 1 instruction in decoding, encoding, handwriting, morphology, and syntax to help students build strong skills for independent reading.
- Tier 1: Prevention - All K-5 students
- Tier 2: Early intervention - All struggling readers in K-3

- Tier 2 (Grades K-3): Small group, one-to-one

- Grades K-3: 30 minutes daily
